       The Korea Ceramic Foundation is not responsible for any subsequent loss or damage 
       caused by the applicant's failure to read the information.




1. General Information
    - What is the deadline for application?    All registrations must be completed in Korean Standard Time (KST).
    - Can I submit online only?    You can apply for the International Competition only on the online platform (www.kicb.co.kr). 
       Please note that receiving applications via email or post mail will not be accepted, and the staff will not submit on behalf of you as well.
    - How do I know my application was successful?    
       When you complete your submission, you will receive a “Submission Confirmation” e-mail to the e-mail address you provided at the time of your submission. 
       If you cannot find the confirmation e-mail, please check your spam, and if it is not there, please contact us via e-mail.
    - When I applied for the international competition in 2019, I already signed up on the website, do I need to sign-up again?    
       In order to provide better service, the server was moved, and member information was not automatically transferred. 
       Please sign up again.
    - Is there a fee for application?    There is no fee for application.
    - Is there a theme for the International Competition?    No. Contemporary artworks created using clay (ceramics) in genres such as sculpture, crafts, painting, 
      photography, and video art, as well as ceramics for use are all acceptable.
    Do I have to meet certain qualifications or conditions to be able to submit my artwork?    Yes. Artist or one group of artists of any age and any nationality 
      can submit artworks that were created within the past three years and have not won any competitions in Korea or otherwise. 
    - When does the International Competition exhibition begin and end?    
      The official opening of the online platform is August 20th, 2021 – Open at all hours and 
      On-site exhibition will be held from September 10th, 2021 to November 28th, 2022.
    - What is the daily opening hours of the exhibition?    It is open from 9 am to 6 pm.




2. Language 
    - What is the official language?    Korean or English.
    - Do I have to fill out additional submissions in Korean or English?    Yes, you must submit all materials in either Korean or English.




3. Team Composition / Member
    - When I submit my work as a team, should the team representative submit the online application?    
       Yes, one representative member can submit the application, and make sure to select “team” on your application form.
    - How do we sign up for an online membership if we intend to register as a team?    
      If you are applying as a team, only one representative member can sign up for the submission webpage and apply. 
      When applying online, Please check the “team” selection box and fill in the team name.
    - Is it possible to submit both as an individual and as part of a team?    No, you can only submit one artwork either as an individual or as part of a team.
    - Is it possible for one person to be a part of multiple teams?    No, one person can only be a part of one team.
    - Is it possible to change the leader or members of a group after the artwork submission deadline?    No, it is not possible after the artwork submission deadline.
    - Is it possible to change the leader or members of the group before the online submission period deadline?    
      Yes, it is possible before the online submission period deadline.
    Is it possible to submit artwork created in collaboration between an individual and an institution?    Yes, it is possible.
    - Does the team leader need to submit the artwork in person during the actual artworks submission period (for the Final Selection)?  
       The team leader or member can either submit the artwork in person or by shipment.




4. Transportation & Insurance
    - Who is responsible for the shipping costs? 
      <Ship in> The actual artworks submission (for the Final Selection), and all incurred costs (packaging, shipping, insurance) are covered by the artist. 
      <Ship out> From the time when the artwork is received, the KOCEF will cover the cost of artwork shipment and insurance.
    Is it required to fly to Korea with the artwork, or is it possible to make the shipping without traveling?    
      You can either submit your artwork in person or by shipment. 
    - Do I need to fill out a customs declaration?    Following the first online review announcement, the person in charge of packaging and shipping will be assigned. 
      The selected artist can fill out the customs declaration and send it to the person in charge.
    - Do I have to get an artwork insurance when shipping-in?    
      Yes. If any uninsured work arrives at the Foundation damaged, the Foundation may refuse to accept the offer and is not liable for the damage.
    - Do I have to select and send via art-specialized shipping company?    I recommend the use of art-specialized transportation company, but it is not compulsory. 
      However, the Foundation shall not be responsible for any accidents or additional expenses that occur when an art-specialized transportation is not used.
    - Is the artist responsible for uninstalling/shipping artworks after the exhibition?    KOCEF is responsible for packaging and shipping artworks after the exhibition. 
      The artist can pack and ship their artwork in person as well. You need to consult with the curator for more information.




5. Exhibition space design / Display
    - Will the exhibition space design be determined by the curator?    
       When installing the artwork, the artwork must be 250x250x250cm (width x length x height) or smaller, 
       and the curator will make the final decision of the exhibition space design. 
       Further arrangements with the artists are likely to be impossible, so please fill out the important details about installation when you apply for the competition. 
       Curators and experts will try hard to get the best results.
    - Is there any equipment for the artworks that can connect them from the ceiling? If so, what is the maximum weight that can be supported?    
      No we don’t provide any additional device for the case. All the equipment and expendable supplies must be provided by the artist. 
     (Stable within 100kg per 2.5m2 of ceiling)
    Can KOCEF provide necessary equipment for installing the artwork?   ex) Beam projector, wires etc. 
      If it is an item that is essential for the display and affects the final outcome of the installation, 
     please send it with your artwork or we recommend the artist to install it in person. 
     One set of equipment (One monitor no larger than 50 inches, or one beam projector no more than 8,000 lumens, property of KOCEF) 
     can be provided per one artist who submitted media artwork. 
     If more equipment is needed or installation is an integral part of the artwork, the artist must prepare all the necessary equipment.
    If additional electric power is needed, is it available?    If so, will there be a charge for it? It can be provided, given that it is within the fire safety regulations. 
      This must be discussed with KOCEF as the situation can differ in each case.
    - Must details for lighting be included in the exhibition proposal?    Or does the curator decide? Basic lighting is provided by KOCEF. 
       If special lighting is required, it must be provided by the artist.
    Does the artist have to bring technical professional on-site for artwork that needs special installation? Can it be provided by KOCEF? 
       Technical support for basic installations can be provided by KOCEF. 
       However, carpenters and electricians cannot be present at the scene all the time, so we recommend the artist to prepare as much as possible.
    How many days do I have to install all the artworks?    Installation can begin from the moment the artwork is brought in on June 7th 
      and must be complete by the second week of July.




6. Etc. 
    - If an artwork is selected, will the foundation help with visa issues?    Regarding visas, the Foundation cannot provide assistance. Please contact the embassy.
    - If an artwork has been selected for the exhibition, can I donate my work even if it is not awarded?   
       For selected works, you can donate your works by expressing your intention to donate the work, consulting with the curator of the international competition, 
       and filling out the documents we send.
    - If an artwork is selected, will the ownership be transferred to KOCEF?    
       A total of four artworks that are selected for the Grand Prize, and Gold/Silver/Bronze prizes will be purchased by KOCEF 
       and ownership will be transferred accordingly. 
       Purchasing costs and taxes are included in the prizes, so please make note this before you apply.



1
